Smith & Hawken at Quarry Village
Quarry Village, the third phase of the Alamo Quarry/Quarry Crossing lifestyle center located at US 281 & Jones Maltsberger, will soon lose one of its anchor tenants after just opening last fall. Smith & Hawken, high-end retailer of outdoor furniture and accessories and a division of parent company Scott’s Miracle-Gro Co., will close all 56 locations by the end of the year including the 11,500 square-foot store located at 330 E. Basse in Quarry Village.
According to a web posting on MySanAntonio.com dated 7-9-09, the going-out-of-business sales has already started. Although the closing of Smith & Hawken is a setback, the project continues to experience good activity. Red Mango Frozen Yogurt opened just last week joining a tenant roster that includes West Elm, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, EyeMasters, Cork Apparel, Five Guys Burgers, Amar Cosmetics, Avant Salon, Bath Junkie, and others. Phase II of the project, which should come online late 2010, calls for an 18,000 square-foot office/retail building that will feature Eddie V’s Edgewater Grill and Chase Bank on the ground floor with available office space on the second floor.
