New JW Marriott to open January 2010

jwMarriottJanuary 2010 – that’s the scheduled opening date for the 1,002-room JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa.  Situated on 2,800 acres in the master-planned community of Cibolo Canyons located just outside San Antonio north of Loop 1604 & east of US 281, the Hill Country Resort will feature approximately 140,000 square feet of meeting space, a 26,000 square-foot spa, a 6.5 acre water park and two Tournament Players Club golf courses.

According to the TPC San Antonio website, the AT&T Canyons Course designed by Pete Dye and the AT&T Oaks Course designed by Greg Norman are being built with the infrastructure to host PGA Tour Tournaments.  Upon completion, the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort will be the new home of the Valero Texas Open which has previously been held at The Westin La Cantera

The article New Marriott resort to open with a splash (San Antonio Business Journal, 7-3-09) reported that as of early July, nearly 200,000 room nights were already booked.  If you would like a sneak peek of the new resort, check out the 6+-minute JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort promotional video on YouTube.

September 30, 2010 is the very last day Marriott time share owners have the ability to redeem a 2011 week in exchange for Marriott Vacation Points in Marriott’s brand-new Destination Club; Marriott defines that day “Election Day” given that it is the final day you can choose if you want to redeem weeks for Points. You’ve still got up to December 31, 2010 to turn your 2011 week in for Marriott Reward Points. There’s a wonderful website in which they live and breathe the new Marriott Destination Club which replaced the old timeshare division of Marriott. I’ve came across a great many noteworthy points at Marriott Vacation Club Points.
