According to the 26th Annual San Antonio Housing Forecast, things are looking up for local home builders. Although construction of new homes is off roughly 60% compared to the peak of 19,000 homes started in 2006, MetroStudy reported that builders started construction on 7,599 new homes last year which is up about 5.5% from 2009.
The Far West sector, which experienced about 36% of new starts in 2010, is expected to see the largest market share over the next decade. Looking ahead, Metrostudy projects that the market will see an estimated 9% increase in 2011 which will equate to nearly 8,300 new home starts.
