The vast stores of crude oil and natural gas discovered in the Eagle Ford Shale has ignited a flurry of activity in South Texas. In addition to big players such as Chesapeake Energy and EOG Resources, a myriad of smaller companies are making their way to the region. Cudd Pumping Services, for example, a division of Cudd Energy Services, an oilfield services provider, recently leased the facility located at 5251 Tacco Dr. (40,271 sf) in the city’s Northeast sector.
A new study reported that oil and gas drilling at Eagle Ford has directly supported 6,800 full-time jobs since the first well was drilled in 2008 and has accounted for roughly $2.1 billion in economic output. That impact increases when other spin-off jobs are tallied into the calculation. By 2020, the Eagle Ford is expected to account for nearly $21.5 billion in economic output and could support as many as 68,000 jobs.
