Hasslochers mixing old and the new in latest development venture

Magic Time Machine

One of San Antonio’s most established names in the restaurant industry is embarking on a multimillion-dollar plan to revive some real estate on the city’s North Central Side.

On Sept. 3, Hasslocher Enterprises closed on 6.5 acres of land along Loop 410, between Broadway and Nacogdoches roads. It is the site of several structures — including an office building, the Petroleum Center; and well-known restaurant The Magic Time Machine.

Hasslocher’s plans for the tract call for upgrading the Petroleum Center— a one-story, 87,000-square-foot office property that was built more than 50 years ago.

The company will also be upgrading the Time Machine building, which it acquired as part of the land deal, as well as constructing a new restaurant at the corner of Crownhill Drive and the Loop 410 access road. The new eatery will be branded as the Frontier Drive-Thru.
