When the pingpong table had to be taken out to make room for a survey team, it was a sign that KFW Engineers & Surveying had outgrown their northwest San Antonio home. The company will soon start construction on a new headquarters building.
The local civil engineering firm will be moving out of its headquarters off Huebner Road and into a two-story building that will cost $4.2 million to build and have 30,000 square feet of office space off Loop 1604 and Huntington Place in Shavano Park.
KFW Engineers co-founder George Weron said the building will have a Texas Hill Country look with energy-saving features and xeriscaping.
The new building will also include amenities for the staff: a workout room with showers to encourage cycling and running in addition to recreational areas, access to a nearby greenbelt and an outdoor barbecue area.
KFW Engineers built its current headquarters at the Huebner Gardens Office Park, 14603 Huebner, in June 2012, and company co-founder Steven Krauskopf said KFW quickly outgrew it.
