The former vending machine warehouse in Southtown will soon be dispensing something entirely new now that David Adelman has his hands on the property.
Adelman, the founder of local AREA Real Estate, LLC, closed on the site at 1811 S. Alamo St. just yesterday but already has big plans for the 12,000-square-foot building. Purchase costs were not disclosed.
The property will add to Adelman’s growing portfolio of adaptive reuse developments, and will likely include two to three retail tenants combined with creative office space. Given his commitment to helping San Antonio become what he describes as “an 18-hour city,” the site will also have some type of restaurant or bar component.
The building at 1811 S. Alamo will adopt the same direction AREA took with the Hughes Warehouse at 203 E Jones Ave. — a site Adelman called “a war zone” before its redevelopment, and now houses the bustling Rosella Coffee and architectural firm Overland Partners.
