New emergency hospital coming to 1604 and NW Military.
Baptist Health System and Woodlands, Texas-based Emerus are expanding their collaboration. The two organizations have teamed up to develop a seventh emergency hospital in the Alamo City.
The newest project, which has been kept under wraps until now, is under construction at Loop 1604 and NW Military Highway in far North San Antonio. Officials with Emerus and Baptist did not disclose development costs, but they did confirm that the structure will be nearly 40,000 square feet in size and is expected to be completed before December.
Emerus’ Richard Bonnin said the new hospital will have eight emergency-care exam rooms supported by on-site imaging and lab facilities. The hospital will take up nearly 10,000 square feet of ground-floor space in the new structure. The remaining 7,150 square feet of real estate on the first floor — as well as 21,550 square feet on the second floor — will be reserved for medical and professional office use.
The newest project, like the Zarzamora hospital, will be built and managed by Emerus and utilize Baptist’s medical expertise. It’s being constructed in an area that continues to experience significant growth.
