Christus Santa Rosa Health System acquires SA emergency medical centers

christus_logoIn an effort to broaden its presence in San Antonio, Christus Santa Rosa Health System has struck a deal to purchase a pair of former Elite Care emergency medical centers — including one that previously had been shuttered.

UT_Health_San_AntonioUT Health San Antonio is putting the final touches on a new $19 million medical center in Boerne that represents a potentially much larger leap of faith for the Alamo City institution.

The 19,000-square-foot ambulatory multispecialty complex, set to open next month, could be a first step toward more medical investment in high-growth corridors beyond San Antonio’s city limits. The San Antonio medical office market retained its positive gains into the fourth quarter to complete an overall positive year in 2016. The stable local economy and expanding demographics proved to be a stimulus for healthy leasing activity following demand for medical office space.

The year-end total reached 83,514 square feet of positive net absorption after the fourth quarter supplied 15,940 square feet of additional gain. Three new buildings were delivered during the fourth quarter which contributed 65,983 square feet of medical-only office space to the market, bringing the inventory to more than 7.1 million square feet. …Read Entire Post

MHM to redevelop former Southeast Baptist Hospital.

Methodist Healthcare Ministries has stuck a deal to acquire a 20-acre site along East Southcross Boulevard that includes the former Southeast Baptist Hospital.

It’s a deal that will draw more medical services to the site and could breathe new life into an area ripe for additional reinvestment. REOC San Antonio Releases 3Q16 Medical Office Market Update

Extending the positive performance demonstrated in the first half of the year, the San Antonio medical office market registered positive gains in the third quarter to further its growth cycle. The stable local economy and expanding demographics continue to spur healthy leasing activity and demand for medical office space.
New leases and expansions generated 36,926 square feet of positive net absorption in the third quarter which boosted the year-to-date total to 67,574 square feet of total net gain. New development delivered two new buildings to the expand the medical-only office inventory to nearly 7.1 million square feet. Pre-leasing activity within the two newly-delivered buildings contributed to absorption gains this quarter. The two-story Dominion Crossing Medical Office Building (30,000 sf), for example, came online with University Health System (4,201 sf) and a pediatric dermatologist (5,523 sf) in place. Similarly, the three-story Christopher Medical Office Building at Grace Point (54,648 sf) opened with its anchor tenant, Sage Bariatric. …Read Entire Post

Ownership for the Wonderland of the Americas faced with having to fill the 96,000-square-foot hole left after anchor tenant Career Point College abruptly closed its doors over the weekend power has reversed its plan to sell the property.

After investing millions of dollars in its rebranding and pushing the mall’s vacancy to below 10 percent with new lease agreements, Crossroads Mall Partners Ltd. recently enlisted HFF to put the 565,718-square-foot Wonderland of the Americas up for sale.
