IKEA to buy 31 acres for SA-area location

is moving forward with plans to open a San Antonio-area location as part of the company’s goal to “fill in the middle of the country with a little bit of Sweden.” The retailer is currently under contract for 31 acres of vacant land at the corner of I-35 and Loop 1604, the future home for its proposed location in the city of Live Oak.

CPA:17 – Global Acquires $22 Million Office and Data Center Leased to iHeartCommunications, Inc.

 W. P. Carey Inc., a global net lease REIT specializing in corporate sale-leaseback financing, build-to-suit financing and the acquisition of single-tenant net lease properties, announced today the acquisition of an office and data center facility on behalf of CPA®:17 – Global, one of its managed non-traded REITs. The 120,147 square-foot facility is located in San Antonio, Texas, at 20880 Stone Oak Pkwy, and is leased to iHeartCommunications, Inc. for a period of 20 years.

The total acquisition price was approximately $22 million.

Carrier lands at Southport Industrial Park

After months of speculation and rumors, the Carrier Air Conditioning facility has reportedly landed at the Southport Industrial Park located directly across the street from the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas, Inc. plant in Southwest Bexar County.

Dallas-based Bandera Ventures recently purchased 135 acres of land situated at Applewhite and Watson Roads.  Bandera Ventures plans to develop a 542,000-square-foot distribution facility for Carrier.  Additional phases could expand the complex to …Read Entire Post

Verde Enterprise Business Park lands Amazon.com fulfillment center

To increase its same-day delivery capabilities, Amazon.com plans to construct a 1.26 million-square-foot warehouse in the Verde Enterprise Business Park located in the City of Schertz – a satellite community to the northeast of San Antonio along the Interstate 35 corridor. 

To help land the $166-million distribution warehouse, the Schertz Economic Development Corp. and Guadalupe County approved approximately $7.6 million in direct tax incentives.  Situated on 96 acres at the corner of Enterprise Avenue and Verde Parkway, the project, called a fulfillment center, is expected to create 350 jobs.

Maruchan to put noodle factory, 600 jobs in Texas

Japanese noodle maker Maruchan, Inc. whose U.S. headquarters is in Irvine, will build a 500,000-square-foot factory that will employ 600 people on 60 acres in the Medio Creek Business Park located at 11389 I-35 S in Southwest San Antonio.

The $330 million factory is expected to open first quarter 2014, just as the company’s existing plants in Irvine, Calif., and Richmond,Va., reach capacity. Company sources cited very favorable Texan freight rates.

REOC San Antonio releases 2Q 2012 industrial market update

The San Antonio industrial market continues to benefit from activity related to the nearby Eagle Ford Shale play.  Three of the top five-largest leases signed in the second quarter were by Chalk Mountain Services, an oilfield services company specializing in the transportation of frac sand – an industrial sand used in deep well drilling of oil and natural gas.  There is approximately 650,000 square feet of leased space currently storing frac sand.  The citywide footprint of sand storage within existing buildings is not expected to expand any further but U.S. Silica, a leading provider of silica sand, recently announced an innovative alliance with BNSF Railway Co. to build a new 15,000-ton frac sand storage facility.  …Read Entire Post

SA Lighthouse for Blind to expand Southside facility

San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind plans to expand its existing 60,000 square-foot headquarters building located on the city’s South Side at 2305 Roosevelt Ave. by constructing a new two-story, 60,000 square-foot facility on three acres across the street at 301 Eads Ave.  The new $6.5 million project will give the Lighthouse more room for the manufacturing of a variety of products used for its contracts, such as military apparel items.  Completion is scheduled for late 2012.
