Whataburger affiliate buys more land near airport

whataburger_concordCompanies controlled by Whataburger executives now own 28 acres of land at the crossing of Loop 410 and U.S. 281 after buying a 9.9-acre property at the southwest corner of the intersection, near San Antonio International Airport, on October 6, property records show. The land is occupied by At Home and Tuesday Morning retail outlets.

The property is next to another 18.6 acres that EG Tejas and another company controlled by Whataburger executives, RE Pecan, have purchased since December.

Whataburger has expanded its local landholdings drastically in recent years. Last fall, a partnership between the company and local investment firm Milam Real Estate Capital bought the 11-story Concord Plaza office building next to its headquarters. A few months earlier, the chain bought an adjacent three-story building through a subsidiary.
