Lowe’s Home Improvement, the world’s second largest home improvement retailer, recently opened a new 103,000 square foot store at 3302 Goliad near Brooks City-Base at the intersection of I-37 and SE Military. Doors opened June 19th to serve the city’s southeast side and surrounding communities. More retail is planned adjacent to the new Lowe’s.The intersection of I-37 and SE Military is a newly emerged and growing retail hub of over a million square feet of retail space including City-Base Landing (anchored by Wal-Mart) and Brooks Corner (anchored by Target and Home Depot). Other area retailers include H-E-B, Best Buy, Ross Dress for Less, and many more.
UCR is marketing a proposed 250,000 square-foot center called City Base at Goliad situated directly south of the new Lowe’s. Preliminary site plan includes JC Penney (104,067 sf), Circuit City, Office Max and a 14-screen theater.
