Northeast market quick to re-tenant darkened retail space

The Village at Forum Parkway

Over the past twelve months, the San Antonio retail market has suffered some setbacks caused by the prolonged recesssion.  Regardless of how well our local economy has performed, national retailers like Linens ‘N Things, Circuit City and Mervyn’s were forced to close up shop across the country which left behind several darkened big boxes in area centers.

Two Northeast centers have been quick to re-tenant those spaces.  In the third quarter,  Bed, Bath & Beyond signed a 34,000 square-foot lease to backfill the former Linens ‘N Things at The Forum at Olympia Parkway.  Directly across I-35 from The Forum, Houston-based Spec’s Wine, Spirits & Finer Foods leased 20,594 square feet to backfill the former Circuit City space at The Village at Forum Parkway.
