Rebounding from a flat first quarter performance, the San Antonio retail market experienced a healthy bounce in the second quarter led by an upswing in mid-sized transactions. Even though retailers remain cautious and transactions seem to move forward slowly, Neighborhood Centers, which have remained sluggish since the start of the recession, led second quarter gains.
The national economy has not provided the support we had hoped for through mid-year, but job growth, sales tax collections and automobile sales seem to indicate that the Texas economy is emerging from the recession and moving in the right direction.
