When Baptist Health System opened a new hospital in Stone Oak in 1991, some questioned the need, suggesting that there were more deer than people in the area. But now, in an effort to address an ever-increasing demand for care north of Loop 1604, Baptist is preparing to begin work on another major expansion of its Stone Oak campus.
The San Antonio health system will begin work in June on the $32 million project, which will include the construction of two new floors atop its North Central Baptist Hospital (located at 520 Madison Oak Dr.).

This latest expansion will accommodate approximately 100 additional beds — and further improvements are expected.
