New retail center following Northwest San Antonio rooftops

HardHatIconThe rooftops are there, the people are there and the money is there, so it only makes sense that more retail is on its way to San Antonio’s northwestern corridor.

Mexico-based Galleria Ventures Ltd. is behind The Plaza at Vance Jackson, a new 28,000-square-foot retail center that will be going into the southeast lot at the corner of Vance Jackson and UTSA Blvd. Drake Commercial Group will be responsible for leasing, and while no names of tenants have been announced yet, the local firm is already in talks with a number of retailers. It is expected to open in spring 2016.

Following last week’s news of another residential development going into the area surrounding the I-10 and Loop 1604 intersection, the demand for more retail options will only continue to increase.

Roughly 40 percent of housing starts in San Antonio is in the northwest submarket, meaning that all of those residents are going to be needing more service, medical, food and entertainment options. The Rim, 17503 La Cantera Pkwy, has been the leading example of power center success in the region, but with residential growth spreading in all directions, it will no longer be as convenient for some of those newer residents.
