GrayStreet buys Light building

graystreet_logoLocal developer GrayStreet Partners bought the Light building on Monday from Hearst, the parent company of the San Antonio Express-News. The firm plans to renovate the building into about 60,000 square feet of class A office space, GrayStreet’s managing partner Kevin Covey said.

The price was undisclosed for the 2.15-acre property at 420 Broadway St. It was assessed at $4.7 million this year by the Bexar Appraisal District.

The Light building is across the street from a 1.1-acre property that GrayStreet bought from Hearst in August, where the firm plans to build an apartment complex in a partnership with Houston developer BHW Real Estate Partners, Covey said.
