One of the biggest barriers to growth there is about to disappear. Flasher Equipment, a manufacturer of traffic signs that occupies nearly 5 acres of land across the river from the Pearl, is moving in a few weeks to a new facility on the West Side, said James Griffin, a lawyer with Brown & Ortiz who represents the company.
Flasher is seeking new zoning from the city, petitioning the San Antonio Zoning Commission to redesignate its land from commercial and industrial to “infill” development, which allows offices, multifamily housing and retail shops. The panel is scheduled to vote on the request June 20.
