Alamo Plaza Making Room for $150M Museum

Alamo Plaza

Longtime tenants of Alamo Plaza, including the historic Woolworth and Palace buildings, recently agreed with the Texas General Land Office (GLO) to break their leases early, which means saying goodbye to attractions like the Ripley’s Haunted Adventure.

The agreement paves the way for the creation of the 100,000-square-foot Alamo museum and visitors center, a project led by the Alamo Trust group.

The planned $150 million Alamo Museum and Visitors Center will help anchor a larger Alamo area transformation.

The agreement is effective as of January 21 for the buildings located on 327 and 329 Alamo Plaza and 518 E. Houston Street. The businesses in those properties will cease operations by September 1 and vacate by October 31.
