$15 Million Gift and Downtown Land for UTSA

The University of Texas at San Antonio has received a $15 Million gift to support their proposed School of Data Science. One of UTSA’s major component is to accelerate the development of its Downtown Campus as a destination for producing professionals in big data and analytics, advancing economic development in the urban core, and creating prosperity for San Antonio.

Registration open for 2018 Outlook for Texas Land Markets conference

The Real Estate Center’s 28th Annual Outlook for Texas Land Markets conference will be April 26-27. Registration is now open.

Experts will cover a variety of legal, economic, social, and natural resources issues influencing current land market dynamics. An optional TREC Legal Update 1 will be offered immediately following the conference.

The conference will be at the Omni Hotel at the Colonnade at 9821 Colonnade Blvd. Registration is $230 through March 26. With the optional legal update, the conference costs $250. After March 26, the price goes up by $20.

SA university working with county to lease 10,000 sf in Federal Reserve Building

a&m san antonioTexas A&M University-San Antonio, on the hunt for more space as it transitions to a four-year program, could soon have a presence downtown if a deal with Bexar County comes to fruition.

Pearsall Park and the Ascent of the Southside

The $7.5 million makeover of Southside’s Pearsall Park will be unveiled in a couple of months. The district was awarded $8.5 million for park improvements in the 2012 bond.Pearsall Park

The 526-acre park will be the one of the city’s largest, and the only park in the city with a 5K, 10K, and single loop half-marathon course.

To augment the 231 acres of former landfill, the city purchased 268 acres from the Cox family for roughly $1 million. The park also includes 26 acres of the Leon Creek Greenway, according to the department of Transportation and Capital Improvements.

UT Health Science Center acquires former Humana office building

UT Medicine 2The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio has acquired Med Centre Plaza, a nearly 102,000-square-foot office building at 8431 Fredericksburg. The $12.3-million transaction will provide much needed space for UT Medicine, the academic medical practice for the Health Science Center’s School of Medicine.

University of Texas regents approve nearly $20 million medical campus near Boerne

Fast-growing A&M-S.A. campus breaks more ground

Texas A&M University-San Antonio recently broke ground on two buildings to expand its growing southside campus.  At a cost of roughly $75 million, the two new structures include a four-story academic building (186,000 sf) that includes classrooms and a 400-seat auditorium and Patriots’ Casa (23,000 sf) which will serve student veterans with certification programs and counseling services.

Regents OK campus expansion plans at Texas A&M-San Antonio

Texas A&M University System Board of Regents approved a plan for two new buildings at its Texas A&M University-San Antonio campus.  Plans call for the construction of a new Central Academic Building totaling 170,750-gross-square feet and a Patriot’s Casa totaling 20,000-gross-square feet.
