Public-private partnership to bring new I-10 access road & mixed-use development to Seguin


IH-10 between FM 464 & Hwy 46, Seguin, TX

NewQuest Properties, the City of Seguin and the Seguin Economic Development Corp. have formed a new partnership to develop 545 acres of property.  NewQuest, a Houston-based developer, will build a new access road along Interstate 10 between State Highway 46 and FM 464 that will create new development opportunities in the city. NewQuest owns the land and the company plans to market 120 acres of property for retail, and the rest of the land for multifamily, office and light industrial tenants.  The name of the development will be the Seguin Commerce Center.

Brooks City-Base is booming

Brooks City-Base

Growth at Brooks City-Base was the focus of a recent presentation which highlighted new development since the Air Force vacated the facility last year including the Mission Trail Baptist Hospital.  In addition to 250,000 square feet of new retail space at City-Base West, the area has also seen the completion of significant infrastructure improvements as well as two new buildings at the $30 million City-Base Landing apartment complex.

Construction starts on 281/1604 interchange

Super Solution for US 281

US 281 signThe daily gridlock along the US 281 corridor continues to infuriate commuters but thankfully some relief is in sight.  As it stands now, the bottom line of a long and complicated history is that no federal funds will be made available to add capacity to the corridor without an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) required by the Federal Highway Administration.  The Alamo Regional Mobility Authority (RMA) ambitiously hopes to have this study completed by 2012, as reported in Agency ‘aggressive’ on review for highway (San Antonio Express-News, 8-23-09).  Fortunately, commuters don’t have to wait that long. …Read Entire Post
