Sunoco closes on San Antonio area convenience store purchase

Gas pumpSunoco LP bought eight Pico convenience stores in the San Antonio area with plans to rebrand them Stripes stores.

The purchase price was not disclosed. The stores will be leased to and operated by Stripes LLC, a Texas-based retail chain owned by Sunoco LP’s parent company Energy Transfer Partners. The stores buy all of their fuel wholesale from Sunoco. …Read Entire Post

TeletonUSA to open $17M pediatric institute in San Antonio this fall

TeletonUSA, an organization affiliated with the Teleton Foundation, which is based in Mexico, expects to complete work this fall on a new project that will further expand San Antonio’s critical role in pediatric care.

The nonprofit Children’s Rehabilitation Institute of TeletonUSA (CRITUSA) is under construction nearMorgan’s Wonderland, a special-needs theme park located on San Antonio’s Northeast Side. It will serve children from across the U.S. who have neuromusculoskeletal disabilities, and also provide support for patients’ families during and after treatment.

The $17 million San Antonio institute is scheduled to be completed in late October.

The Children’s Rehabilitation Institute of TeletonUSA is expected to see approximately 600 pediatric patients annually.

Port San Antonio lands Forward Air to fill Air Cargo Terminal

FORWARD-AIR-SOLUTIONS-LOGO_Tennessee-based logistics company Forward Air Solutions Inc. recently announced the lease of an 89,600-square-foot facility at Port San Antonio (originally Kelly Air Force Base).  The building, referred to as the Air Cargo Terminal, remained vacant since it was completed in 2008 but Forward Air’s distribution services will put the facility’s location along the Port’s airport runway to good use. …Read Entire Post

Major rail hub planned south of San Antonio

The Eagle Ford Shale oil-and-gas play has created a seismic shift in economic activity that is reshaping a large and mostly under-developed multi-county region south of San Antonio.  Economic experts consider San Antonio the epicenter of that activity, as do developers and companies looking to tap into the boom.

The latest such example is Mission Rail Park, a $12 million development planned near Loop 1604 on a 1,010-plus acre site that straddles the county lines of Wilson and Bexar in southeast of San Antonio. …Read Entire Post

New Braunfels lures National Flight Services

National Flight Services New Braunfels Regional Airport recently lured Toledo, Ohio-based National Flight Services away from its current facility in San Antonio by offering $100,000 relocation fee and a $300,000 loan.  National expects to break ground early next month on a $1.2 million hangar facility that will span 20,000 square feet which should be complete in mid-April of next year.

Southwest Airlines to expand San Antonio call center operations

Southwest Airlines recently executed a 15-year lease for an expanded 60,000 square-foot customer support center at the R/E Business Center, a redeveloped Kmart store located at 11711 IH-35 N.  Southwest is in the process of vacating its current call center location on Medical Drive near I-10 where it currently employs approximately 470 full-time personnel.  It will add more than 322 positions at the new center for a total of 800 and plans to open by the end of 2012.
